Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers, so you can feel confident starting

Not sure where to begin? Book a free consultation and we will help connect you with the right therapist.

Getting started

I have never done therapy before. What should I expect?

Expect a calm, supportive conversation. We will get clear on what is bringing you in, what you want to change, and what has been hard to shift on your own. You will leave with a clear direction and next steps.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about clarity and comfort. We will talk through your goals, ask thoughtful questions, and start mapping a plan that fits your life. If you want tools right away, we can start there.

What if I do not know what to say?

That is completely normal. You can start with what feels hardest right now, or simply say you do not know where to begin. We will guide the process with steady questions and a pace that feels safe.

Right fit

How do I know which therapist is right for me?

You do not have to figure that out alone. In a free consultation, we learn what you want help with, what you prefer, and what your schedule looks like, then we recommend the best fit. If it ever feels off, we will help you adjust.

What makes Your Path Therapy different?

We lead with curiosity and build real trust. You will not be rushed, judged, or pushed into a one size fits all plan. We pair strong clinical work with clear systems and consistent follow through, so progress feels steady and sustainable.

What is the difference between therapy and talking to a friend?

Friends are important, but therapy is designed to create change. You get a trained professional, a confidential space, and a process that helps you understand patterns, build skills, and follow through. It is support with structure.

Insurance and logistics

Do you take insurance?

Yes. We work with Select Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Regence Blue Cross, Deseret Mutual, EMI, United Health, and Aetna. We also welcome private pay clients seeking flexible, premium care options.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

Cost depends on your plan, deductible, and copay. After your first session, we can help with insurance verification so you understand your benefits moving forward.

Do you offer in person and telehealth sessions?

Yes. We offer both in person and telehealth options, depending on the therapist and what works best for your situation.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on your goals and what you are working through. Many people notice relief within a few sessions, and deeper change often takes longer. We will check in regularly so therapy stays focused and purposeful.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. If we do not receive 48 hours notice, we charge the price of a session, which is $150.

Kids

Do you work with children and teens?

Yes. We support kids, teens, and families with anxiety, big emotions, behavior challenges, school stress, and life transitions. We keep the approach age appropriate, engaging, and grounded in what helps.

What does child therapy look like?

Child therapy often includes play, creativity, skill building, and connection. Kids do not always process through conversation alone, so we meet them in developmentally appropriate ways while still working toward clear goals.

How are parents involved in child therapy?

Parents are part of the process. We align on goals, share guidance on what to reinforce at home, and keep communication clear. We also protect the child’s trust, which helps therapy work better.

Will everything my child says be shared with me?

We balance confidentiality with appropriate parent involvement. We will keep you informed on themes, progress, and what helps at home, while also giving your child a safe space to open up. Safety concerns are handled immediately and clearly.
